Baume et Mercier Men's Watches

Baume et Mercier Ladies Watches

Watchmaking was still in its infancy when the Baume family set up a workshop in Le Bois in 1542. They specialized in chronometers from the beginning. Pierre-Joseph Baume opened a subsidiary in London in 1878 to import and market the watches, which had won awards and gained an international reputation. When William Baume joined with Paul Mercier in 1918, the firm Baume et Mercier was established in Geneva, and continued until the 1950s, when the family succession ended and Piaget became the majority owner. In 1988 Cartier International acquired Piaget and Baume et Mercier.

Baume et Mercier has been especially adept at showing that sports watches need not be ugly. They create timepieces that are functional, beautiful, and able to withstand sports wear. Many of the company’s 1950s chronograph models can still be found today, with the elegant look that is the company’s signature.

Contemporary innovation and design combined with elegant tradition and practicality are the hallmarks of Baume et Mercier watches.

Among the best-known models produced by Baume et Mercier are Classima Executives, Ilea, Hampton, Malibu, the Riviera (with its 12-sided case), the Transpacific (which includes a ladies model), Chronoflex, Diamont, William Baume, Capeland, and Formula 1. Antique, vintage, pre-owned, and new Baume et Mercier watches and chronographs for men and women are regularly added to the listings, so be sure to check back often.
